Windjammers Review: Portable Flying Disc Action

Get in some competitive flying disc action with Windjammers! The game has finally been released for the Nintendo Switch, but how does it fair on the hybrid machine?

In this instance we'll be focusing more on its port to the Nintendo Switch and how that has worked for the overall game.

For those who are unaware of Windjammers, it is essentially a 1v1 competitive game in which you attempt to throw a disc (frisbee) into your opponents goal. The goal itself will also be split up with yellow areas giving three points and red areas giving five.

The game is pretty easy to pick up and play, the only difference is things can get pretty quick at the higher level. Other than that, there is no other barrier that would stop you from enjoying the game.

In terms of features, we are getting an identical version that keeps up with the original release, along with five games modes such as Arcade, Infinite, Local Versus, Online Quick Match and Ranked Match. The big plus here being that you can take this with you on the go, thanks to the Nintendo Switch's portable capabilities.

I also found that some Switch ports become a bit uncomfortable to play using the Joy Cons, however with Windjammers 2 button layout, this doesn't become a problem at all and to be honest, I would prefer to use that instead.

Windjammers is gaining a lot of steam and with the second season of the Competitive Flying Power League underway, now is a good time to get on the game and even better so, play wherever you take your switch with you.

At this moment in time there doesn't seem to be a strong online presence as of yet and I hope to see more players getting on this soon. Hopefully with the league, we will see a lot more online competition in the future. 

It seems that no matter which platform the game comes to, it still plays and looks wonderful. In my initial review I did mention that it would be great to see this game hit the eSports level and I'm glad that it has and now with being able to play on the go, you can take part in high speed disc action anywhere.
